Following four years living abroad (Guatemala, Spain, Mexico), Mark C. Williams found his passion while working at the University of Notre Dame Law School Immigration Clinic, and has been practicing immigration law for the past four years. Mark represents clients from all over the world, and he speaks fluent Spanish.
At Perretta Law Office, Mark’s practice focuses on family-based petitions and applications for permanent residence (particularly cases requiring waivers); humanitarian-based immigration benefits, including U Visas for victims of crime, VAWA Self-Petitions for immigrant victims of domestic abuse, and Temporary Protected Status; NACARA Cancellation of Removal; asylum; and removal defense.
Before joining Perretta Law, Mark worked as an immigration attorney and Co-Director of Immigration at Holy Cross Ministries (HCM), a non-profit organization in Salt Lake City. At HCM, Mark successfully represented indigent immigrants in all of the practice areas listed above throughout the state of Utah, with a particular emphasis on assisting immigrant victims with U Visas and VAWA Self-Petitions.
Also at Holy Cross Ministries, Mark supervised a staff of five full-time legal representatives, as well as law student interns and volunteer attorneys and paralegals; provided regular trainings to victim services providers at law enforcement and social service agencies throughout Utah regarding immigration options for victims of domestic abuse and other violent crimes; created and managed a referral program to increase the number of needy immigrant victims in Utah who could receive affordable legal representation; and secured and managed federal grants from the federal Office of Violence Against Women for HCM’s work representing immigrant victims.
At Perretta Law, Mark continues providing pro bono and reduced-cost legal assistance by participating monthly in advising detained non-citizens facing deportation through the Salt Lake City Immigration Court’s Pro Bono Initiative and by representing impoverished immigrant victims at lower fees.
